We've Reached A Calm

Our little family is doing pretty well these days. Brady's still learning more at work. I'm getting better at this "mom of two kids" thing. Ollie, although still a challenge in some areas, is so much fun. Jasper is crawling everywhere and happy as can be.

A little about Jasper. He started crawling about a month and half ago. He's now an expert and is constantly moving. He loves exploring and being able to get to all the toys and follow us around the house. We finally weened him too. He's eating all kinds of fruits and veggies and has gotten used to drinking formula, and only from a sippy cup. Flat out refuses bottles. He also loves eating Cheerios, so they are always in my bag when we go anywhere, especially out to eat. He now has7 teeth and weighs about 20lbs and is 29 inches long.

Ollie and Jasper love each other. I love watching them together. I think Jasper's going to love wrestling with Ollie. He's always crawling up behind Ollie and practically pouncing on him. Ollie will use playing with Jasper as a way to stall bed time. It's funny. There are a few moments every once and a while when Jasper will start playing with a toy that Ollie will suddenly decide he wants and a tug of war begins. But it's not too bad yet.

Ollie is growing to be quite a talker. He's communicating better and better all the time. He has favorite phrases that are said a lot for a week or two before he chooses another one. These phrases have included "What? That's so crazy!" and "What are you talking about?" and always asking "What are you doing?" His favorite response to that question is "I'm just hanging out."

Brothers!
Brady helped me film a speed drawing video. You can go to my drawing blog to check it out. (As well as future ones.)

You can't really see in the photo but Ollie had a run in with his Uncle Riley's dog on Thanksgiving.
We had a good Thanksgiving with Brady's whole family this year. We even did a double date with Shannon and Michael to see Mockingjay Part 1, which was great. When we got back from the movie and were enjoying all the pie I made, Ollie got bit by Rileys dog. Apparently the dog was eating or drinking and Ollie touched or grabbed the dogs tail. He was whisked away to the ER by Brady and his mom while I stayed with Jasper. He got a stitch in his lip and his cheek just had a little gash that a band-aid could heal just fine.

At the train park in Scottsdale.

Riding the train!

Christmas time is here! My mom let me take the bear calandar to countdown the days. Ollie loves it.

Sarah took this a few days ago. So cute.
Jasper is 10 months old and Ollie is 3 years and 10 months old :)

Our Summer and Being 6 Months

I don't know if I have low motivation to blog or no time nowadays. Probably both. Well here's our summer in pictures.
Went to the splash pad a couple of times...

And dried in the sun.
Ollie spent a few days at Gigi's...

And came back exhausted.

Jasper and I had a night out with Sarah.

Did this a couple times.

Learning what it's like to have a sibling.

Hit up our favorite public pool.

Got to chill for a bit with bestie Jenni.

Still obsessed with pirates.

Helped the Orrs move to Tucson.

Made cute faces.

Begin looking like a big boy in church clothes.

Lots of this.

Got lots of attention from all the girl 2nd cousins.

Enjoyed monsoon weather.

Wore hats

Every. Night.

Morning while mom gets ready.

Went to cousin Emily's wedding in the Gilbert Temple.

Stripe Sisters.

More cousin (and Papa) time.

Yup.

Jasper at 6 months old.

I know Jasper will be 7 months in a few days, but he hasn't changed that much in the past few weeks.
So we started him on solid foods and all hell has broken loose since. His sleep schedule is weird and we kind of hate it. He's tired after 7pm and I can get him to sleep but when we put him down he immediately wakes up and he just wants to be awake until 10 then it's fight sleep central for a half hour. Lots of crying and kicking until he finally gives up. He's not a self soother. He's never taken a pacifier and has no way to calm himself down. The cry-it-out method does not work with him.

I would also love to stop breastfeeding. I want my body back. But this kid flat out refuses bottles and/or formula. It's incredibly frustrating. Yes, I know I could pump, but I don't want to. I'm tired. I haven't slept in more than 5 hour blocks in 7 months. Not good for me. I dream of one night of 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Enough ranting. Jasper really is pretty adorable and we love him. Since learning to sit up on his own, he sure has been a happy baby. He likes being able to play a little more like his brother. He won't roll over, although he can, so I think when he figures out that he can get where he wants, he'll love it. He loves when his dad comes home from work, he lights up when Brady plays him. He's getting easier to take to restaurants as long as we have a few spoons for him to play with.

At his 6 month check up he weighed 19lbs. (75%) and 28 1/4 in. (90%). Big boy. He has his 2 bottom teeth and the top two should be coming in soon.

Here's some pictures from his 6 month photo shoot.

Casa de Gillman and Iowa

I've been meaning to blog, but life and kids and other projects end up coming first. So this post may be long.

Jasper has grown so much. At his 2 month appointment he was 13lbs which is in the 90% range. I didn't get his length, but he was 90% in that too.
At 2 months old

Watching Up together.
So squishy!
He's sleeping great and is so much fun to watch. He's so calm which is a complete opposite from Ollie. He always watches Ollie play and smiles at him when Ollie gets close.

We think Jasper wants to always be involved. He cries whenever we sit down to eat dinner if he's in the living room, so we always have to have him sitting next to us while we eat and he's usually happier.

He rolled from his back to his tummy last week for the first time. So that's exciting.
Rolled Over!

Blowing kisses (Lucky shot)

3 Months Old
Ollie has been doing great. Our personalities are so different, so we've been working together to figure out how to make our days flow. I've started do a daily schedule so Ollie has more structure at home. If he wants to watch a TV show we add it to the schedule and he has to wait to watch TV until the scheduled time. We're also trying to get him to help with chores. Cleaning up his toys and sweeping. He likes sweeping and swiffering, but getting him to pick up his toys is sometimes a struggle and other times, remarkably easy, depending on his mood.

Potty training has come a long way. He'll tell us when he needs to go now, and when we're home, he'll go to the bathroom and not tell us he where he's going. Independence is great! We're still working on the poo in the toilet thing.

We cut off his hair. I cried.
At a stake splash and swim for the little kids. So much fun.
He's so cute. Photo-bombed a picture I was trying to take of Jasper.
His Doctor Who and TARDIS. He sees one episode and becomes obsessed.

What else have we done?
Gilbert Farmers Market
Easter

Brady took me to see the Hollywood Costume exhibit at the Phoenix Art Museum for my birthday. Loved it! Wasn't allowed to take pictures.
A couple days ago we got home from a quick trip to Le Mars, Iowa. Brady's mom wanted her grandkids to meet her father, Bill. It was a good trip. We always enjoy seeing the whole family. I didn't take many pictures.
Ollie on a plane for the first time.

We flew out at sunset and had amazing view of it.
Lorraine Foley (Great Grandma) meeting Jasper.

Chillin at the hotel during nap time.

Hot tubbing

Swimming at 8:30pm.

Poolside
Walking to a park with the Orrs. Killing time, burning energy.

Unfortunately, the Blue Bunny Ice Cream shop was closed when Brady and I tried to go.

Iowa

Ollie, Rafe, and Skye on our last night. In Omaha.
