Our story: I say yes!

Hey! Remember when I was writing our story? Life got busy and I never finished. But I thought today was a perfect day to get it up here.

After getting the “go ahead” from my mom. Brady talked to his family and then the anticipation began; when will he ask? Every time I would talk to my mom, the first thing she would ask is, “Did he ask yet?”. The answer would be “no” for almost 2 weeks.

On Friday, April 11, 2008 (see good day to post this). Brady text me at work. He asked me if I was excited for our date that night (clue 1). I said that I was, and he told me that it going to be great! (clue 2). I asked what we were doing, and he said that it was a surprise. (clue 3). That night at about 6:30, I go over to Brady’s place. He opens that door and announces that we were going to have an Italian Night. We started by watching the movie “Casino Royale”. I had never seen it, but it was one of Brady’s favorites, and I really liked it. Next we went out to dinner to Oreganos, one of our favorites, for pizza and wings. When we were about done eating, Brady asked me what we were going to do next. I said “I don’t know,” and Brady said “I do!” I was a little nervous, but actually started doubting that tonight was “the night”. I don’t know why, probably because I’m a girl.

We leave Oreganos and start driving toward Scottsdale. We don’t talk too much on the drive. We were obviously both really nervous. The drive seemed to last forever, but we finally arrived at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch. I didn’t know why we came here and Brady wouldn’t tell me. We walked in through the lobby and out to the pools. The pools were beautiful. They were all lit up, and nobody was out there at all. It was like we had the whole place to ourselves. I then saw that this hotel had gondola rides. Brady asked me if I wanted to ride one. I actually said “no”. It was kind of cold outside and I just wasn’t feeling like it at the moment. We walked around a little more and took pictures.

Then Brady walks up the person taking names for gondola rides and put our name in. They said it would be 10 minutes so we go sit down on some pools chairs a little ways away from the few people sitting around there.

Brady tells me that he loves me and says he has something for me, and starts pulling something out of his pocket. Oh my! I start tearing up right away. Brady pulls me downs some stairs next to us for some privacy since I was about to make a scene with my bawling. He sits me down and than kneels in front of me, opening the ring box. He asks if I’ll marry him and of course I say yes, I was bawling. Happy tears. He puts the ring on my finger and he even got a little weepy. It was a great moment. I’ll never forget it. Just when I had pulled myself together, the lady called our name and said our gondola was ready. We go over and get on with big smiles on our face. The gondolier takes us out and one of the first things he asks us is, “What brings you to Scottsdale?” In my excitement to finally tell someone, I yell, “We just got ENGAGED!” He was excited for us and as we passed another gondola, he yelled to them, “I have the newest engaged couple here with me.” They cheer for us. It was awesome. He sings us a pretty Italian song and then our ride ends. Just as we stepped off, everyone that was on the dock started cheering and applauding for us. The other gondola riders had told everyone that we were engaged. It was awesome. It was kind of fun having these fancy rich women come up to me and ask to see my ring. We sadly didn’t get any pictures of us there.

We left the hotel and I call my mom. It was close to midnight, but she didn’t mind. She was in Mesa at Sarah’s house so they found out together. We drive to my house and we tell my roommates who were very excited and took more pictures for us. It was a fantastic night that I’ll never forget.
